The very special Mercedes Vicente, who recently completed her PhD on Darcy Lange at the RCA, curated ‘Photo HiStories’ at the Govett-Brewster Art Gallery, New Plymouth, New Zealand, with ‘I Must Behave’, the same year the book was published, alongside beautiful and culturally important work by Mark Adams and John Miller, a gallery each, so generous.

Mark and I were born within 24 hours of each other, and John and I had close relatives aboard HMS Achilles during the Battle of the River Plate, the first major sea battle of WW2.

Mercedes and I curated within the gallery of ‘I Must Behave’, a vitrine of my artist books, with a couple of journals and a catalogue of an early show, each open at an image to show clear links between a diverse manner of images.
